Networks Unlimited strengthen its presence in East Africa

Leading value-added distributor, Networks Unlimited, is strengthening its presence in East Africa as it introduces new products into the region. Today, the distributor is partnering to launch one most-sought-after network security too called Fortinet.

The company is also introducing heavily discounted certification courses that will usher in new skills in managing Cloud Networking and Integration, WAN Optimisation, Application Performance Management, Application Delivery Networking, Wi-Fi-, Mobile- and Networking Security, Load Balancing, Data Centre In-a-Box, and Storage for Virtual Machines.

The launch of Fortinet in Nairobi today is expected to draw the attention of several partners to security challenges and concerns IT is facing and how Fortinet will address them. Fortinet has of recent become an on-demand security product by companies that care about the security of their data in East Africa.

Talking to CIO East Africa on Tuesday, October 27th, 2015, the company's Managing Director Anton Jacobsz said they will offer heavily discounted certification opportunities to develop skills in the region so as to have appropriate human resources manage these latest solutions being distributed by Networks Unlimited, within the converged technology, data centre, networking, and security landscapes.

In may this year, the company opened its first East African office in Nairobi, Kenya after it was encouraged by growth in demand for its products in the region. "While our offices may be new in Kenya, Networks Unlimited currently operates across 18 other countries in Africa, and nearly 20% of our revenue is generated from sub-Saharan Africa," Anton Jacobsz said at the inauguration in May.

Networks Unlimited's footprint now spans five offices, of which four, including its head office, are located in South Africa.

Jacobsz says that by February 2016, the first batch of trainees in the region will be certified to handle F5 Networks, a set of technologies that help organizations to seamlessly scale cloud, data center, and software-defined networking deployments to successfully deliver applications to anyone, anywhere, at any time.

"We are very strong at supporting our partner base. We are ready to help those who sign up as partners and this is a great opportunity to use a superior technology," Jacobsz told participants who turned up for an introductory presentation on F5 at Best Western Hotel in Nairobi.

The F5 networks certification will be discounted from $10,000 to $3,500 as a special offer for partners in the region.

Networks Unlimited brings to the region a new set of products covering IT security and Networking. Among those for IT security are: Arbor Networks, CensorNet, Centrify, Fortinet and RSA while those for networking are Arista, Aruba, F5 Networks, ProLabs, Riverbed, SimpliVity and Tintri.

Currently, the company has partnerships with Copy Cat, Dimension Data, Zen and Novell among others all of which have offices in Nairobi and are also located in the various parts of the East Africa region.
